Criteria for Films at LFW

The following criteria apply to show on the Digital Schedule at London Fashion Week, as part of Fash/On Film.


Eligibility

  • Applicants should be based in the United Kingdom. This applies to both designers and directors.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two stockists. International sales are not required.
  • The collection should consist of womenswear, menswear or accessories.
  • Ideally, the film should feature looks from the new season. If the film is of the previous season, it should have launched in the period since the final day of the last London Fashion Week.

Phase One

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Designers are asked to provide the following for their application:
      • Name of designer/brand
      • Film title
      • Film credits
      • Film synopsis (maximum 200 words)
      • Season of collection featured
  • No samples, press material or look-books should be submitted unless requested.

Phase Two

SUBMISSIONS

  • Once an applicant has submitted the aforementioned proposal, this will be reviewed by the panel and the candidate will be notified by email whether the application has been accepted.
  • Applicants may be asked to submit high res stills from their film to aid the curation process.
  • Those on the final cinema schedule, will be asked to submit a hard copy of their film to the following criteria:
      • First choice: Apple ProRes 4:2:2 16x9 Standard Def.
      • Second choice: H.264 16x9 Standard Def
      • Quicktime files
      • All files should be supplied on a Mac compatible Hard Disk / USB
      • No optical disks

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The number of designers chosen is dependent on the availability of slots within the Canon Cinema schedule.
  • The Fash/On Film panel is made up of key opinion formers across the film and fashion industries and representatives from the BFC and River Island.
  • The panel is there in an advisory capacity only. There may be certain cases where the BFC feels a particular applicant may or may not be suitable for the cinema schedule, and the BFC reserves final say.
